1st Ocean-Positive P&E Game To Launch via Anomura, Aerial Collab

Anomura partners with Aerial to become the worlds first Ocean 1
  • Anomura has partnered with carbon tracking platform Aerial.
  • The partnership aims to eliminate the carbon footprint of all Ethereum transactions connected with the game.
  • Anomura is also supported by Virtually Human Studio (VHS), which recently received funding from Andreessen Horowitz.

In a move to address carbon emission concerns of blockchain-based games, pixel art play-and-earn (P&E) game Anomura has collaborated with Aerial, a carbon tracking platform.

The partnership aims to remove the carbon footprint of all Ethereum transactions in conjunction with the game. This is only the first step, as the P&E game told CQ that once it achieves a carbon neutral status, it will then begin its campaign for ocean ecosystem restoration.

In detail, the game plans to support the restoration of kelp – brown algae seaweed – in Southern California, as well as plant mangrove forests in Indonesia.

Anomura Founder Long Do said:

Anomura is a game with a greater purpose. We believe gamers are just as charitable as investors, and that having the choice to donate to wildlife organizations is well-deserved. Web3 feels like a playground for us to express ourselves, and it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make a difference.

For his part, Aerial Co-Founder Andreas Homer lauded Anomura, mentioning that the game has a “brilliant” play-to-donate feature as well. This feature, exclusive in the game, will provide an option for players to allocate their in-game rewards for marine and wildlife preservation. Further details regarding this feature have not been disclosed to CQ yet.

Anomura is also an NFT role-playing game that has a similar concept as Axie Infinity. Specifically, there exist pets named Anomuras, and players will be able to mint these pixel art creatures as NFTs. The game is also supported by Virtual Human Studio, which recently received funding from Silicon Valley giant Andreessen Horowitz for its horse racing experience Zed Run.
