TIME Partners with Galaxy Digital to Demystify Metaverse
Metaverse is the trending term in the tech world, and many believe it is here to stay. Lately, there have been several bullish moves from companies like Facebook (NASDAQ: FB), indicating that the metaverse is evolving and rapidly expanding. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently announced that the social media networking service was changing its name to Meta, a word derived from the metaverse. According to Zuckerberg, Meta introduces social technology.
With the buzz around metaverse, TIME and Galaxy Digital have come together to educate and inform the public on emerging technology through the new weekly newsletter. TIME explained that the newsletter would discuss new communities in the new digital settings. According to the American news magazine, the newsletter will “explore the ways our physical and digital selves are becoming increasingly blurred.” In addition, TIME plans to interview leaders in the business field, innovation, and culture within the metaverse.
Confident about the metaverse, CEO and founder of Galaxy Digital, Mike Novogratz, stated:
“Over the next decade, the metaverse will become an increasingly important part of the world economy; our physical and digital realities are already becoming hard to distinguish. We look forward to partnering with TIME, an iconic brand driving innovation, as we seek to bring readers, creators, and the curious into the metaverse and demystify the tremendous amount of transformation happening within.”
Furthermore, the deal between TIME and Galaxy Digital will unveil additional education resources on the metaverse. Time will make the resources available through its new “Time for Learning” branded content page in December. To achieve this, TIME will leverage the deep expertise that Galaxy Digital poses in the virtual worlds to discuss the metaverse. The content page will further highlight the future potential of the metaverse.
TIME to Hold ETH on Balance Sheet
Additionally, TIME revealed that the transaction was fully conducted in ETH. Also, TIME magazine will hold ETH on its balance sheet for the first time. This follows the approval from TIME to begin accepting crypto payments for its digital subscriptions. Back in April, TIME partnered with Crypto.com to enable crypto payments for digital subscriptions. The media company added that the service would initially be available in the US and Canada.
In September, TIME also announced the launch of its NFT, named TIMEPieces. The 4676 NFT pieces sold out within a minute, triggering reactions from the public.
