The Sandbox Surpasses 2 Million Registered Users

Bullish
  • The Sandbox metaverse recently surpassed the 2 million registered user milestone.
  • This follows the launch of the game’s official Alpha 2 release today.
  • Game players can take part in 200 in-game quests with the opportunity to win $3,000.

Metaverse game The Sandbox has recently reached the 2 million registered users mark amid its play-to-earn season 2 Alpha launch.

Season 2 of the metaverse went officially live recently. Any user is able to freely explore 35 different virtual experiences including take a sneak peek of the “Snoopverse”, which is part of a partnership with the famous rapper and new-found NFT creator, Snoop Dogg.

The NFT-backed cryptocurrency game has been a work in progress for roughly 4 years, with the latest preview of the game following its long-awaited season 1 alpha launch, which happened just months ago, towards the end of November last year.

Game players can compete in 200 quests and stand a chance of receiving an Alpha Pass NFT, which will reward the owners up to 1,000 SAND – currently worth $3,000.

The season 2 Alpha launch is part of the project’s plan to roll out its metaverse in stages. According to the project’s roadmap, the next features that will be launched include a DAO that will give voting power to SAND holders, virtual land, as well as avatar holders. If everything goes to plan, these should launch within the next quarter.

The anticipation around the season 2 launch has yet to impact the price of SAND, as the price of SAND has fallen more than 5% in the last 24 hours to trade at $3.05 according to CoinMarketCap. The price of SAND is also down roughly 64% since reaching an all-time high just three months ago.
