  • Being Investments Founder and CEO Brandi Veil said people are not talking about the upskilling portion of play-to-earn platforms.
  • Veil noted that P2E is about upskilling and not gaming.
  • P2E “provides financial literacy,” preparing youth for the future.

The community lacks discussions on the upskilling portion of play-to-earn (P2E) platforms, Being Investments Founder and CEO Brandi Veil admitted during a WOW Summit panel discussion on March 15, saying that P2Es are potential venues to teach youth about financial literacy.

Veil shared that the youth can have “visceral experiences” with P2E games, allowing them to cash out their earnings to contribute to their families.

Play-to-earn is changing the framework of what we call a young investor. Not only is the upskilling changing the mentality and what community truly is, but now [the youth are doing these for] survival. They’re going from impoverished to somewhat sustainable.

In an exclusive, Veil added that P2E is “not about gaming,” reiterating that it is more about upskilling.

Notably, various P2E games, including Axie Infinity, Pegaxy, and Plants vs Undead, are seeing continuous price drops after spikes during earlier months, hinting that the P2E business model is losing traction on consumers.

Veil stressed the importance of understanding the variables surrounding user engagements in P2Es, specifically pointing out the “quality time of the youth being online.” She noted that the skills learned from P2Es and community engagement could be applied to real-life scenarios.

There’re all these variables that allow the gaming companies to acknowledge who that person is and to advance them to the next game project. Ultimately, I see it as the future of a resume for our youth going into the workforce.

Meanwhile, they’re able to have an asset that goes into their wallet. So they’re learning about financial investments and financial literacy at a very early age,” she added. Veil sees this as a win as long as the youth are mindful of “time consumption and making sure that they have balance.

Brandi Veil is also a key personality behind BridgingTheGap Ventures, a company that offers youth upskilling programs and impact NFTs. Its initiative YOUNGA gathered global youth leaders and decision-makers in the metaverse to create solutions aligned with the UN’s sustainability efforts last year – a first in this regard.
