  • Holoride announces partnership with Audi vehicles.
  • The Virtual Reality company will integrate its technology with select Audi models as of June 2022.
  • HTC Vive Flow VR headsets are the official partners of Holoride in this integration.

Holoride recently announced that it is bringing in-vehicle Extended Reality (XR) experiences to select Audi vehicles this June 2022. The vehicle integration announcement was made at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas. The festival runs until March 20.

As of June this year, Holoride will equip select Audi models that roll off the production line which have the third generation of the modular infotainment toolkit (MIB3) alongside the latest software cluster. Specifically, this integration will include the Audi models A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, Q5, Q7, Q8, Audi E-Tron, E-Tron Sportback, and E-Tron GT.

Holoride will utilize the HTC Vive Flow VR Headsets for the Audi vehicle integration. This is in line with a partnership agreement with HTC Vive which was announced at Mobile World Congress 2022 last February.

Furthermore, Holoride is launching the product in the United States and Europe — beginning with Germany and the United Kingdom — in the fall of 2022. Holoride stated that they would add further markets within Europe in 2023 while expanding product offerings to the Asian market including Japan, South Korea, and China.

Holoride spun out from Audi in 2019 and partnered with Terranet, a Swedish software development firm, to build sensors and software. The products gave Holoride the technology to quickly process a vehicle’s surroundings and translate the data into VR responses.

Notably, Audi still holds a minority interest in Holoride through Audi Electronics Venture. It is a subsidiary that developed the tech and licenses it to Holoride. However, Holoride is not exclusive to Audi and is using an open platform allowing any car manufacturer to use the entertainment system.

In correspondence with CNN Business, Holoride Director of Marketing Communications Rudolf Baumeister talked about other potential partnerships.

We are always open to working with other automotive car manufacturers and hope to make as many vehicles Holoride-capable as possible.

In November 2021, Holoride announced its own cryptocurrency called RIDE on the Maiar Launchpad. It was the first-ever project on Elrond’s strategic accelerator platform.

RIDE is the utility token of the Holoride platform’s NFT-powered ecosystem. The token is designed to provide incentives for using Holoride through additional benefits and enhanced user engagement.
