New York-based photographer Gabriel Dean Roberts made a bold move to launch an NFT project consisting of 10 years of his artistic life.
Roberts, who is known through his photography career in Vogue and fine art in the NFT world, is now selling 10 years of his life work through a project called OMEGA (stylized as Ω). Ωprice is at 30,000 Ethereum, the highest valued NFT in history.
Whoever gets ownership of Ωwould receive a monthly bonus NFT of Roberts’ best work. The owner will amass 120 original 1:1 works, airdropped every month, over the course of 10 years, practically purchasing 10 years of Roberts’ work.
The original owner gets to decide if they want to keep or sell the works. They should agree to sell them at “a higher value than the last highest completed sale in NFTs.” Otherwise, additional art pieces will be voided. This move aims to retain the project’s position as the market cap NFT.
Roberts explained the reason for this clause, stating:
The clause is intended to incentivize an active relationship between the owner, the art, and myself, and deter them from devaluing the art. By doing this, I’m creating a circumstance where Ω lives up to its meaning as the last, greatest, highest marker of value.
Aside from the 120 masterpieces, “luxury perks and global acts of goodwill” await the Ωowner. Meanwhile, Ωis poised to set a record sale, outlasting Beeple’s $69 million NFT sales.
In other news, Justin Aversano, known for selling one of the most expensive photographs ever, is now helping other photographers to sell their NFTs through his startup, Quantum Art.
Dismayed by “getting paid in likes and comments,” Aversano co-founded Quantum Art, an NFT marketplace to help fellow photographers earn from their work in the NFT world. Quantum Art has since sold high-priced NFTs and is looking to expand into other art forms beyond photography.
