- Tech giant Amazon brings the AWS Cloud Quest wherein virtual characters solve cloud computing problems in a virtual city.
- The idea behind launching this was to make education and skills imparting program more interactive by gamifying it.
Tech giant Amazon has found an interesting new way of imparting cloud computing skills for its Amazon Web Services (AWS). Last week, the company launched a 3D web game AWS Cloud Quest: Cloud Practitioner with a Metaverse-like theme.
Players will navigate through a virtual city and will help people solve real tech problems through the cloud. The user will then earn points for completing simulations and puzzles. In addition, the users will also unlock things such as new character styles, city themes, pet companions, and virtual items like hoverboards.
In its explanation, AWS noted: “As a cloud practitioner, you’ll venture on a journey to help the citizens in town transform their city by using cloud solutions”.
Of course, the goal for Amazon here is to increase awareness and boost the adoption of its cloud services. Even in the decentralized world, Amazon Web Services (AWS) is quite popular for offering storage solutions.
This seems like an interesting new way of gamifying the process of imparting skills and education. The AWS Cloud Quest Game is for new-to-adult cloud learners. Besides, it is also suitable for those early in the cloud carriers. With its interactive learning process, the AWS Cloud Quest game will seek in imparting the necessary skills and talent to employees and others.
The idea behind the launch of AWS Cloud Quest
Amazon said that the idea behind launching Cloud Quest was to help explain “core AWS services and categories”. This includes storage, computing, database, and security services. It also helps people to guide in building basic cloud solutions.
Speaking of the developments, Kevin Kelly, director of professional cloud education programs at AWS, said:
AWS Cloud Quest and AWS Educate are deliberately moving away from passive content. We want to make the abstract concepts of cloud computing a reality through interactive, hands-on activities that allow students to immediately translate theory into practice.
With the AWS Cloud Quest, Amazon has already started testing waters with the world of Metaverse. Every big company has been focusing upon the transition to the Web 3.0 world and Amazon wouldn’t want to be away from it.
Furthermore, Metaverse + Gaming provide massive opportunities to companies over the last decade. There is every possibility that Amazon can consider crypto and NFTs to its own Metaverse offerings in the future.
Previously, there have been several rumors of Amazon making a move in the crypto space. Last year, the company was also mulling to launch its native crypto. However, it will be interesting to see whether Amazon integrates public cryptocurrencies like BTC, ETH, and others for payments.
