The Apple 2022 WWDC is not entirely virtual. Some students, developers, and media personnel will have access to a physical show of the pre-recorded keynote.
Multinational tech giant Apple (NASDAQ: APPL) has announced a new date for its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), which is held every year. Apple said the upcoming WWDC would begin on the 6th of June and run for a week. Apple is still sticking with its Covid-19 prevention protocols, unlike other companies. Due to fewer coronavirus cases, many US companies have eased up on specific protocols, resuming physical meetings. On the other hand, the 2022 WWDC is about to be the third-in-a-row virtual conference Apple will be conducting.
Virtual Events Take Over as Pandemic Persists
It takes different efforts to organize a physical event and an online one. Before Apple started virtual conferences, the company was known for physical conferences, including in-person sessions and speeches. With the ongoing health crisis, it is safe to say that the tech company has considered the best option before settling for a virtual program.
However, the Apple 2022 WWDC is not entirely virtual. Some students, developers, and media personnel will have access to a physical show of the pre-recorded keynote. This will take place in Cupertino, the Apple Park campus in California. As we all know, there may currently be a reduced number of Covid-19 victims now and a surge in the coming week. In the case of such an unfortunate event, Apple can easily cancel the Campus event with no hitch.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman’s report, Apple will be launching some products at the coming WWDC. The report revealed that the multinational company is going to release two new Macs by mid-year or early in the second half. Like before, Apple may be announcing the incoming products at the 2022 WWDC. The report stated that a new MacBook Air is likely to be one of the cooking Macs.
Apple to Announce Software Updates at 2022 WWDC
Speaking further, Gurman said software updates would be the major talks of the conference. The report highlighted Apple’s iOS 16, which has the codename Sydney, macOS 13 (Rome), watchOS 9 (Kincaid), and tvOS 16 (Paris). While Apple may still include more features before the event, Gurman mentioned some updates to expect. He said there may be some improvements for iOS. These significant upgrades may consist of advanced features for health tracking and update to notifications. Although the iOS interface may not see a full redesign, there would likely be a new iPadOS interface. Additionally, Apple fans may expect news on significant upgrades on its smartwatch during the 2022 WWDC.
German also mentioned other new Macs to expect from Apple:
“Other models in the works include an updated Mac mini and 24-inch iMac, as well as a low-end MacBook Pro to replace the aging 13-inch model. And let’s not forget that new Mac Pro and iMac Pro models are in development.”
Currently, at after-hours trading of $169.79, Apple stock is down 0.18%. In addition to losing more than 4% since the year began, the tech company has also declined 4.68% in the last five days.
