Base Reaches Record Daily Active Addresses
On August 24, Base set a new record with 1.05 million daily active addresses. As of the latest update, the number has slightly decreased to 1.03 million daily active users. This represents a remarkable 60% growth in daily active addresses since the beginning of August.
Following this surge, Base now surpasses several other protocols in terms of daily active addresses. For context:
- Arbitrum: 394,000 daily active addresses
- Linea: 198,000 daily active addresses
- Mantle: 69,000 daily active addresses
These figures are sourced from GrowThePie, an Ethereum L2 data platform.
Over 200,000 Basenames Minted
The surge in daily active addresses coincided with the launch of the “basenames” service on August 21. Jesse Pollak, the creator of Base, highlighted that over 200,000 new Base.eth usernames were minted within the first week of the service’s launch.
Basenames, powered by the Ethereum Name Service platform, enable users to purchase a name linked to their Base wallet address, facilitating easier communication within the network. In comparison, there are currently 1.96 million active ENS names, with ENS taking nearly two years to reach 200,000 registered addresses.
Base Network Trading Volume Rises
In addition to the growth in Basenames, Base has seen a significant increase in financial activity. According to DefiLlama data, the total trading volume across the Base network has grown substantially over the past five months.
Base now holds a 9.25% share of the total decentralized exchange (DEX) volume on Ethereum, up from 2.81% in March. The layer-2 blockchain also achieved a record 4 million weekly active addresses during the network’s “Onchain Summer” campaign on August 20.
