Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao described his meeting with El Salvador President Nayib Bukele as “fantastic.”
Zhao, commonly known in the cryptocurrency community as “CZ,” recently met with Bukele to talk about the Central American nation’s crypto adoption. The Binance CEO shared his thoughts on the affair in a brief tweet.
Contrary to early reports, Zhao revealed that “they didn’t talk about [the bitcoin] bond at all.” Milena Mayorga, the U.S. ambassador for El Salvador, initially stated that the country is seeking support from Binance for the issuance of its bitcoin bonds.
“But so much to talk about adoption,” the exchange CEO clarified. Earlier this week, El Salvador had to delay its bitcoin bond launch due to the market’s adverse conditions.
During the meeting revolving around Bitcoin investment topics, Zhao was accompanied by investors while Bukele was in attendance with Mayorga.
According to reports by Diario El Salvador, Zhao stressed that Bukele is a “leader” and has expressed interest in studying El Salvador’s strategic projects.
Meanwhile, Bukele nonchalantly responded to US Senator Bill Cassidy after the legislator claimed that the Salvadorans might have doubts about a leader “who brags about trading Bitcoin naked.”
Bukele earlier blasted the US government’s proposal to monitor El Salvador’s crypto adoption, compelling the Central American nation to submit reports to the western power.
The El Salvador President is currently meeting with various Bitcoin supporters, including television personality Stacy Herbert and Mexican businessman Ricardo Salinas Pliego, to discuss Bitcoin adoption and investment opportunities.
