The Opera crypto wallet is the core of the browser. With this, users will be able to switch between apps without having to sign into their wallets every new tab.
Multi-platform web browser service provider Opera has released the beta version of its new Web3-focused Crypto Browser Project. The Norway-based company unveiled the crypto browser to offer direct access to Web3 services to facilitate the user experience of browsing DApps, games, and metaverse platforms. According to Opera, the new Web3 services provided through the Crypto Browser Project are available to Windows, Mac, and Android users.
Per the Tuesday announcement, the new crypto browser will maintain some security features in the current Opera browser. The current Opera browser possesses some unique features that make it secure, such as no-login VPN and native ad & tracker blocker. In addition, the new crypto browser will integrate direct access to decentralized exchanges. At the same time, Opera has revealed that the browser will integrate non-fungible tokens (NFTs), gaming DApps, and Telegram and Twitter (NYSE: TWTR) support.
Opera specified that the crypto browser is aimed at both “the crypto-native and the crypto curious.” That means that services are beneficial to people who are new to cryptocurrency and the existing customers.
Opera Releases Beta of Web3 Browser
The Opera crypto wallet is the core of the browser. With this, users will be able to switch between apps without having to sign into their wallets, every new tab. Notably, this feature will only work with apps that have integrated the Opera wallet. Currently, the Opera wallet is compatible with Ethereum exclusively. However, the company is now working on unveiling compatibility with Solana, Nervos, Celo, and Polygon in the near future. Its Polygon (MATIC) integration will expectedly go live within the first quarter of the year.
Also, the wallet supports fungible ERC-20 standards and non-fungible ERC-721 standards, while ERC-1155 will come in Q1 20221.
According to Jorgen Arnesen, EVP Mobile at Opera, the primary goal of the Crypto Browser Project is to support crypto and Web3 to go mainstream. He booted:
“Opera’s Crypto Browser Project promises a simpler, faster, more private Web3 experience for users. It simplifies the Web3 user experience that is often bewildering for mainstream users. Opera believes Web3 has to be easy to use for the decentralized web to reach its full potential.”
The EVP Mobile believes that browsers will be more important in Web3 than in Web2. He mentioned that a “multi-chain token strategy will be essential to a good user experience.”
Earlier this year, Opera offered 150GB of free data to Nigerians to mark its 15th anniversary in Africa and Nigeria. The company said it gave out the free data to allow Nigerians access to the internet free of charge. According to Opera’s estimate, the price of mobile data in Sub-Saharan Africa is the most expensive globally.
