- Crypto.com commits to a two-year support to the University of Penn.
- The goal is to boost crypto research on cryptography and coding.
- Crypto.com has backed up various academic initiatives in the past.
Crypto.com, the world’s leading cryptocurrency platform, pledged a two-year gift to back up the University of Pennsylvania’s (Penn) new Crypto Research Laboratory Fund and finance research on cryptography and coding.
In detail, the two-year research donation will be used to put up a new lab within Penn’s School of Engineering and Applied Science under the tutelage of Professor Brett Hemenway Falk. Moreover, the research will mainly be focusing on two key points: security and privacy in digital environments, and fostering trust and transparency.
Prof. Falk, Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer and Information Science, is a familiar name when it comes to external partnerships that aim to identify societal problems and solutions powered by Computer Science.
With this latest collaboration, Crypto.com will aid in Prof. Falk’s efforts to achieve his goal.
Furthermore, Eric Anziani, the Chief Operating Officer at Crypto.com, shared his thoughts on this new partnership with the University of Pennsylvania. He said:
The focus of the University of Pennsylvania’s crypto lab will be tremendously valuable for wider, real-life blockchain applications while also exploring new approaches to further privacy and security capabilities. We are incredibly excited to support the foundation of this blockchain research lab within such an esteemed academic program.
Meanwhile, Crypto.com is no stranger to academic research. Notably, it has its own Research & Insights where highly acclaimed researchers in the academe publish a monthly series of open-access reports.
Seeking to educate the global crypto community, these reports primarily discuss topics spanning from crypto market sizing to analyses of crypto security.
According to Head of Research Dr. Henry Hon, decentralization and privacy are already at the core of web3. He also added, “Penn’s research supports the evolution of a safe digital space. The more secure blockchain becomes, the more its application in the real world grows.”
Crypto.com has also supported other academic initiatives in the past. These include the Secure Blockchain Initiative at Carnegie Mellon University and the Blockchain Association of Singapore.
