- Doodles leapfrogged to the top 3 must-own blue chips after the first round of fundraising.
- Musician and producer Pharell Williams will join Doodles as Chief Brand Officer.
- Doodles announces plans for Doodles 2 avatars to launch soon.
Ethereum-based NFT project Doodles made a pair of noteworthy announcements on June 21. The co-founders of Doodles revealed that Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian’s venture capital firm, Seven Seven Six, led their first round of funding, besides welcoming musician and producer Pharell Williams to the team as Chief Brand Officer (CBO).
Doodles further revealed that Doodles 2 avatars were to launch soon. This new NFT collection will span millions of avatars, feature a vast array of traits, and contain over 10,000 original NFTs along with wearable items. However, these avatars won’t be released on the Ethereum blockchain, and the team withheld from disclosing which blockchain it will release on.

At the event, Williams expressed his excitement to collaborate with Doodles through a pre-recorded video message where he stated, “I’m a big fan of the brand… We’re going to build from the core community outward and bring Doodles to new heights, new levels.”
Although Williams launched his own NFT project named Gallery of Digital Assets (GODA) last month, it would be intriguing to see this 13-time Grammy Award-winning musician in his new role where he is anticipated to reshape Doodles’ approach to music, artwork, animation, events, and consumer products.
Additionally, an album will be released in collaboration with Columbia Records. The album, titled Doodles Records: Vol 1, will include Doodles-inspired music and feature artwork from Doodles co-founder and artist Scott Martin, AKA ‘Burnt Toast’. Williams will be the executive producer of this album and he will engage other major recording artists to collaborate for the same.
According to Doodles representatives, the album will be coupled with as-yet-unspecified NFT collectibles, and though the album will be available to stream via various platforms, it will only be sold through NFTs.
Alongside William joining as the CBO, Doodles also declared that the Seven Seven Six co-founder, Katelin Holloway, onboarded the Doodles team. Speaking of the Seven Seven Six-led fundraiser, the team mentioned this to be Doodles’ first capital raise, without disclosing the funding amount.
In a pre-recorded video message, Reddit and Seven Seven Six co-founder Ohanian conveyed his plans to work with the Doodles team to “take all the work they’ve done so far and bring it to another level, scale it even further.”
Doodles has become one of the most valuable NFT collections in the market since its launch in October last year and to date has generated above $500 million in secondary trading volume, as per data from Cryptoslam. Notably, after these announcements, Doodle NFTs saw a surge in sales leading to nearly $3 million in the last 24 hours.
