Dutch Artist Dadara Puts Users First in Big NFT
  • Dutch artist Dadara created 7.9 billion NFTs that represent each person in the world.
  • The CryptoGreyman project is a social commentary on how people of the corporate world are viewed today.
  • Dadara’s NFT project provides educational aid to refugees, allowing them to start over.

Dutch artist Dadara has launched CryptoGreyman, a huge NFT project that aims to raise discussions about more honest individuality in web 3. This project is in partnership with RAIRTech, which would see refugee beneficiaries.

CryptoGreyman is a collection that consists of over 7.9 billion digital assets that feature a now-pixelated version of Dadara’s 90s Greyman character. It shows a corporate employee wearing a suit, a briefcase, and a tired face. Similar to the original character, CryptoGreyman was created as a social commentary on how people are viewed today.

While the collectibles look physically alike, each has a different serial number. According to Dadara, the same way can be said for today’s corporate world, that people are generalized to numbers. At the same time, the collection also addresses the current pressure to be unique, fueled by social media.

Dadara commented:

I see this as a dead-serious prank, which can rattle the cage of consensual reality and elevate the conversation. It’s an NFT experiment with an unpredictable outcome. No specific NFT is better than another, and because the minting price is widely accessible it will be interesting to see what value each individual CryptoGreyman holder brings.

Priced at 1 MATIC (equivalent to $2.05), the CryptoGreyman does not focus on rare traits, limited collections, and exclusive communities, unlike most NFTs today.

In response to the trend that more people are buying NFTs that they could identify with or an asset that would define them, RAIRTech CTO Garrett Mink said that the CryptoGreyman is “more democratized” and that the “barrier for entry is intentionally low.”

Mink further added that every purchase of CryptoGreyman comes with serial numbers that the buyer could call their own. If they decide to keep the NFT, the asset will solely be theirs as long as possible.

In addition, the CryptoGreyman project will also aid refugees around the world. In partnership with Movement on the Ground, 2,222 digital assets will be dispersed as part of a program that teaches refugees how to set up wallets and sell NFTs. This can also allow the refugees to start over once they have settled.
