Fellow Dogecoin co-founder Billy Markus weighed in to ease the tension between Palmer and Musk. He wrote that Dogecoin was initially meant to be a joke, and neither he nor Palmer made a lot of contribution to the project.
Tesla Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA) CEO Elon Musk has lashed out against Dogecoin co-founder Jackson Palmer in a series of tweets. Musk targeted Palmer after the latter discussed an interaction he had with the Tesla CEO many years ago. Palmer developed scripts that are fashioned to report crypto bots and spam accounts on Twitter automatically. According to the Dogecoin creator, he shared the script with Musk and some other people.
Meanwhile, Musk is bent on tackling spam accounts once he takes over Twitter. Upon acquiring the social networking company, the billionaire has revealed addressing Twitter spam accounts as a thing on his to-do list. However, Palmer said Musk does not even know how to run a code despite his constant attacks on fake accounts. The Dogecoin creator added that the EV maker executive is not as smart as the world thinks. Palmer said Musk is good at pretending he knows, referring to the Tesla full-self-driving promise.”
In response, Musk said Palmer “falsely claimed” his lame snippets of Python are capable of getting rid of bots. The SpaceX CEO challenged Palmer to share the Python with the world if they are effective, as he claimed. Musk continued to attack Palmer’s Python script.
“My kids wrote better code when they were 12 than the nonsense script Jackson sent me. Like I said, if it’s so great, he should share it with the world and make everyone’s experience with Twitter better. If he does, you will see what I mean. Jackson Palmer is a tool.”
Musk vs Palmer
In a separate tweet, Musk accused Palmer of never writing a single line of Dogecoin code. The Dogecoin executive responded by liking a Github page that shows his contribution to the creation of Dogecoin. He noted:
“I never said it was super complex, but this simple script definitely worked in catching and reporting the less sophisticated phishing accounts circa 2018… They’ve since evolved their tactics. I shared it with a lot of people, and it worked for them.”
Palmer further explained that the script will “definitely” not solve spam accounts now because scammers and bots have gotten more sophisticated since he wrote the script in 2018.
Fellow Dogecoin co-founder Billy Markus weighed in to ease the tension between Palmer and Musk. He wrote that Dogecoin was initially meant to be a joke, and neither he nor Palmer made a lot of contribution to the project. In Musk’s opinion, Markus’ “sense of humor” and “irreverence” are the two qualities that made DOGE famous.
Palmer has been slamming Musk for some time, calling him “a self-absorbed grifter” last year. He also believes that a “powerful cartel” controls crypto. Also, Palmer launched an anti-crypto podcast called Griftonomics.
