Canadian singer/songwriter and Elon Musk’s ex-girlfriend Clair Elise Boucher, or Grimes, has joined the growing number of music artists and high-profile entrepreneurs who are embracing Dogecoin (DOGE) as a payment option.

The Doge-Wagon Now Includes Grimes

Grimes is planning to make her next merchandise available to buy in leading meme cryptocurrency Dogecoin. The tweet about Grimes’ Dogecoin embrace was liked by Tesla’s Musk. Dogecoin co-founder Billy Markus also reacted with a meme from the animated science fiction sitcom Futurama.

The 33-year-old singer said Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC) and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) will also be accepted for the upcoming merch drop.

Beyond payments, Grimes has also experimented with non-fungible tokens (NFTs) as a means of generating extra revenue. In March this year, she sold a collection of digital artwork and audio-visual animations for a staggering $6 million in the span of 20 minutes.

In September, Musk revealed he and Grimes are “semi-separated”, adding that they remain on good terms and still love each other. Musk also said Grimes still lives at his California house and they continue to raise their son, X AE A-XII, together.

Earlier in the year, Musk said his son owns some Dogecoin, playfully referring to him as a “toddler HODler”.

Big Names Rally Behind Dogecoin

Dogecoin is a popular cryptocurrency, despite being created as a parody of bitcoin in 2013. It rose to prominence this year mainly because billionaire entrepreneurs like Tesla/SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and Shark Tank investor Mark Cuban have shilled it on social media and asserted that it will become a useful cryptocurrency. Musk even claimed to be working with DOGE developers to improve the coin’s efficiency.

The billionaire-inspired Dogecoin rally added billions to the cryptocurrency’s market capitalization, leading to it being featured in the 10th spot on the crypto leaderboard.

Moreover, Dogecoin has attracted support from dozens of crypto exchanges and payments companies. It is also accepted by other notable groups, including Cuban’s Dallas Mavericks, AMC Theatres, the American Cancer Society, and Newegg.
