As the charity trend towards Ukraine continues, video game company Epic Games is donating the proceeds from its online game Fortnite to Ukrainians. Epic Games released Chapter 3, Season 2 of the online game yesterday. The company said all proceeds within the first two weeks would go to multiple humanitarian organizations supporting Ukrainians affected by the Russian invasion. Specifically, Epic will obtain the proceeds between the 20th of March and the 3rd of April. All Fortnite purchases, including Fortnite Crew, V-Buck packs, cosmetic packs, and gifted Battle Passes, will go to the donation. Epic will also add all retail store purchases of in-game cosmetics and V-Bicks cards redeemed in-game during the two weeks.
Notably, there is no building on the new season of Fortnite, and it now has new equipment. Epic added a combat AMG with a fair bit of recoin and a striker burst rifle.
Epic Games Pledges Fortnite Proceed to Ukraine Relief Aids

In the announcement, Epic mentioned some of the humanitarian relief organizations Epic Games is planning to support as it stretched a helping hand to the people of Ukraine. The organizations provide different forms of emergency aid, including health support to victims of the war. Also, they offer good food, clean water, legal assistance, shelter, and essential supplies. Some include United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and Direct Relief. Others are UNHCR- The UN Refugee Agency, and the United Nations World Food Programme (UNWFP). The game company plans to onboard more organizations in the coming weeks.
Explaining the promptness in sending the funds to the relief organization in Ukraine, Epic Game explained:
“As quickly as we can. We’re not waiting for the actual funds to come in from our platform and payment partners, which can take a while depending on how the transaction was processed. As transactions are reported, we’ll log them and send the funds to the humanitarian relief organizations within days.”
As Ukraine sees more support, US president Joe Biden has signed a funding bill to support Ukrainians. Reports showed that the bill includes a $13.6 billion funding package in support of Ukraine. The funds will go into defense equipment for the people of Ukraine. The package will also see to the training of Ukraine’s armed forces.
