On March 17, Axie Infinity announced that the much-awaited Origin upgrade will be released in stages. During the first month, the update will only become available on PC. This caused the game to draw flak from the community since a majority of the players are mobile users.
Interestingly, even some of the game’s longest-running supporters voiced their disappointment. These include cloudwhite, who posted the tweet above. According to him, this decision of Sky Mavis – Axie Infinity’s creator – is disappointing.
I’m not saying the plan doesn’t make sense, but there’s also something to be said about making a splash sometimes.
DAVEvsAXIE also echoed a similar sentiment, saying that he is “almost surprised that there is no mobile at [the Origin] launch.” It should be noted that DAVEvsAXIE was one of the major voices that fueled the removal of Smooth Love Potion (SLP) rewards from Adventure and Daily Quest. This was also a controversial update that sparked wide community dissent for months on end.
What is more, another member of a major gaming guild, Yield Guild Games (YGG) said that the unveiling of “[the decision] just kills the hype.”
My problem is how am I going to explain it to my scholars. 😂 Half of them left already maybe the other half will also leave. Sadly, they’re tired of V2.
