Amidst the speculation about the future of the Fantom network and other projects that Andre Cronje was involved in, Fantom Foundation has released a statement.
The statement responds to all the allegations, inaccuracies, and misinformation spreading since the announcement. It further confirms that the blockchain network and other projects will continue to function effectively.
Following the announcement by Anton Nell that he and Cronje are exiting the DeFi space altogether, Rekt.news made damning allegations against the company.
In a now-deleted article, it claimed that
“Fantom, Solidly, SpookySwap, Abracadabra, Geist: multiple projects all entwined into a system designed to extract maximum value for a small set of insiders who are now steadily exiting the stage.”
But Fantom’s statement debunked all these claims, stating that Fantom has never been about one or two persons. It has always been about the works of thousands of contributors to build what Fantom is currently.
It stated that Cronje worked on Fantom as an adviser rather than the core developer that many are making him to be. He advised on high-level technical and treasury management. Cronje further connected projects and individuals he believed were good for the Fantom network.
Furthermore, the clarifications included a statement from Andre Cronje himself where he expressed his trust in Fantom.
It read,
“Although I’ve made the decision to move away from crypto and DeFi, the Fantom team has been nothing but honourable throughout my engagement with them. I believe they are on the right technology path, and I have no doubts that they will continue to succeed.”
On the misinformation of 25 projects being terminated, the Foundation also clarified that this wasn’t the case. It stated it’s only the two developers’ involvement in the projects that are ending. The projects would continue to be handled by existing teams, some of which have been in charge for years now.
With this comprehensive statement, Fantom Foundation hopes that this would finally put Andre Cronje and Anton Nell’s exit behind it.
Earlier this month, Anton Nell announced their departure from DeFi, leading to the value of tokens associated with them dropping massively.
