Cardano
On, and off-chain Cardano have shown that they can do good meaningful work. In the world of blockchain Cardano has added significant value by introducing its Ouroboros protocol. This innovative initiative has seen the Proof of Stake protocol gain massive interest throughout the blockchain world. In comparison to Proof of Work mechanisms that use computational power, and a vast amount of energy to resolve complex mathematical questions to gain the ability to mine blocks, Cardano harnesses the power of interconnection and staking.
Through staking participants are able to stake their ADA to stake pools of their choice, therefore the more ADA that resides in a particular pool grants it the ability to mint blocks. This mechanism not only eradicates the issues of inclusivity but also negates the problem of energy consumption that Proof of Work protocols have.
With the network Cardano has created, projects are now flocking to build on top of it. Cardano’s DeFi space has garnered significant interest over the past few months, however, one project has pioneered its own mission. That project is Flickto, which aims to disrupt the two trillion dollars a year media industry. They have recognised the necessity for a more diverse and inclusive media ecosystem, one that empowers creatives from all walks of life to showcase their talents.
Rise of Web3
As we saw the rise of Web2.0, we saw the rise of online content creation and an ecosystem where algorithms ran wild using data-driven decisions. However, Web2 has begun to garner some negative attention in recent years, regarding the centralized storage and usage of important data. Digital companies have started to shift in the direction of what is now known as Web 3.0, the age of decentralized networks. These networks will facilitate an environment where users maintain their own digital identities and data is no longer extracted and utilised by companies with ill intention.
The recent launch of the Flickto voting platform has seen the step towards a decentralised media ecosystem realised. Web3 will firstly provide content creators with the means to express themselves without restraint. The presence of a centralised authority who often has the ability to prevent you from disseminating content will essentially be negated, and content will gain its opportunity to thrive. Furthermore, Flickto have allowed for the inclusion of project voting, which will allow their audience to vote on submissions they want to see come to fruition. This will be done on their platform using the $FLICK token.
Craving Creatives
Cardano’s ecosystem is thriving with creators crying out for a place to embed and share their creativity, and Flickto have realized this need. Initiatives such as Toxica, and Revas World will see the first full length feature CNFT movies launch on the Cardano network. We all recognize the power that movies have to captivate and bring us together, however media conglomerates have underwhelmed our expectations, with the continuous release of cookie cutter content.
Flickto wants to ignite the diversity of human storytelling that continually captivates us, by empowering and disseminating content that is enriched with diverse culture. They’re mission is already in motion with project voting set to go live on their platform in a matter of weeks and masterpieces already in the creation process.
Flickto’s Head of Media, Luke Dudley had this to say;
As a creative myself I understand the need for your work to be shown on a large scale. In recent times creatives weren’t as valued as they are today, so projects such as ours are imperative to transcend barriers and propel the industry forwards. Our first collaborative project with our close partners Bazooka Bunny will see the story of the notorious Billy the Kid come to life with a modern twist. There is the potential for NFT memorabilia attached to successful projects to thrive and provide nostalgia for the digital age. It’s a really exciting opportunity for myself and the team to help nurture the next generation of media creatives that will be enthralling us for many years to come.
They’re approach to this monumental feat has proved successful thus far. Continuously they have delivered on the things on their roadmap, and as a startup this is essential. Flickto has received a lot of attention, but have continued to work hard and consistently to build a strong community. With the world continuing to move in the direction of decentralised networks, Flickto may be about to turn the media industry on its head, but only time will tell.
