Bankrupt Cryptocurrency Exchange FTX Launches Customer Claims Portal

FTX, a bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange, recently launched a customer claims portal, although it went offline after approximately an hour for reasons unknown.

Social media users reported that the FTX claims portal became live on July 11. This portal provided an opportunity for customers who had accounts with FTX, FTX US, Blockfolio, FTX EU, FTX Japan, and Liquid, to access their account information and submit claims for consideration in the company’s restructuring proceedings. Claims could be submitted until September 29, according to FTX’s Kroll page.

Prior to going offline, the claims portal allowed users to view their account balances as of November 11, 2022, the day FTX filed for bankruptcy in the United States. Users can still file a proof-of-claim through Kroll’s online customer form or via U.S. mail. Currently, the claims portal has been offline for approximately an hour.

In June, the debtors involved in FTX’s bankruptcy case announced their plans to launch an online portal specifically for customer claims. The bankruptcy proceedings are currently ongoing in Delaware, while former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried’s first criminal trial for alleged fraud is scheduled to begin in October.
