Game of Silks puts a different spin on the Metaverse by introducing access to thoroughbred horse racing. With the help of Tropical Racing, real-world racehorses will be tokenized as NFTs, allowing a global audience to benefit from their performance and breeding.
Thoroughbred Horses in the Metaverse
There have been various attempts at bringing animals into the Metaverse, the future virtual world where everyone can enjoy a personalized experience. However, most of these ventures focus on digital animals with no link to the real world. Game of Silks takes a contrarian approach by tokenizing thoroughbred racehorses on the blockchain. It is a substantial move to bridge the gap between the real world and the virtual world of the future.
Game of Silks (Silks) serves as a derivative play-to-earn environment. Horses born and registered as a thoroughbred will be digitally cloned and tokenized as NFTs. The tokens track real-world performance and breeding. Owners of an NFT will reap the rewards from their horse’s performance through valuable tokens with multiple use cases within the Silks Metaverse.
Without access to real-world thoroughbreds, a project on this scale would not be possible. Silks has the backing of Tropical Racing Inc, a public company representing a 200-acre horse farm. Tropical Racing CEO Troy Levy is the co-founder of the Silks ecosystem. Additionally, the company invests $2 million into this Metaverse-oriented venture, with another expected $55 million to be generated through its upcoming NFT sales.
More importantly, Silks is structured as a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO), as there are no clients. Anyone can join the Game of Silks by acquiring an NFT, providing investment exposure. Silks Avatars, 3D avatars tied to one’s online identity, will represent user identities.
Upcoming Silks NFT Mints
The initial $2 million injected into Silks enables the team to focus on development. However, the team will launch the upcoming Silks Avatars NFTs, followed by Silks Horses, Land, and Stables. The Silks Avatars public sale will go live shortly. Additionally, users can mint the Silks 2022 Yearling Crop in Q2 2022. Land and Stables, represented as NFTs, will be available for sale in Q3 2022. The Silks Metaverse is slated for release in early 2023, with Racing and Breeding functionality following soon after.
Game of Silks co-founder Dan Nissanoff adds:
“I am excited to have a strategic investor like Tropical Racing as an early investor in our round. They bring deep industry expertise and a valuable network critical to the execution of a derivative metaverse project like ours.”
With the backing of a public thoroughbred racing company, Silks gains more legitimacy and appeal. There is a growing interest in horse racing and gaining exposure to thoroughbred horses. Blockchain technology and tokenization can play a crucial role in catalyzing mainstream adoption. Merging real-world dynamics with Web3 technology will usher in a new era of mixed-reality entertainment.
The Silks Genesis Avatar Collection will be released on April 27, 2022. These avatars are needed to represent one’s identity and Silks in-game assets. Access to the Silks Genesis Avatar Mint is possible through the Silks website or the Discord.
