The Hedera22 Smart Contract Hackathon has commenced with a virtual opening ceremony. Hedera Developer Relations Head Gehrig Kunz and Developer Evangelist Ed Marquez hosted the session, taking the participants through the event, and highlighting some of the key activities and challenges in store for them.
Chief Strategy Officer of the HBAR Foundation, Donald Thibeau, also attended the online event.
“We’re very excited to be the premier sponsor of the Hedera Hackathon,” said Thibeau.
“Smart contracts offer developers the ability to go after very compelling use cases in the areas of DeFi, NFTs and all kinds of market places,” said Marquez. “And seeing those things being built on Heredera is really exciting for me. And I also think this Smart Contracts Hackathon is a huge driving force for the ecosystem to build utilities and tools that will serve developers.” Marquez also presented a demo of how to create a Hedera Test net developer account.
Also, Kunz took viewers through the challenges involved in the Hackathon. Teams will compete across 15 challenges with rewards in HBARS and USD.
Be strategic about the different ways in which you’re incorporating the narratives and the technology that you’ll see within your project.
This is the Hedera community’s first-ever Solidity Smart Contract Hackathon. The team asks attendees to use the new EVM-compatible Hedera Smart Contract Service to build decentralized apps, protocols, or developer tools and win over $500,000 in prizes.
With support from The HBAR Foundation, Avery Dennison, BCW, Buidler Labs, Calaxy, Circle, Filecoin, Google and many more organizations, Hedera22 Hackathon is expected to be a huge success.
