McAfee was charged with thirty years in prison on tax evasion charges from an apparent ICO pump-and-dump plan that according to regulatory authorities amounts to more than twenty-three million.
The recent Netflix documentary about John McAfee, British-American computer programmer and businessman, has taken the world by storm. Apparently, McAfee, who was perceived dead in 2021, is claimed to be still alive by his ex-girlfriend Samantha Herrera.
In the latest Netflix documentary named, “Running with the Devil: The Wild World of John McAfee,” the creators investigate the eventful life ad tragic death of the famous computer programmer, as well as Samantha Herrera’s statement that the former business mogul lives in Texas at present.
The documentary, which launches on Netflix on August 24, is directed by Bafta-winning director Charlie Russell. The movie also incorporates several raw and real-life footage and interviews of McAfee to evaluate his life’s events and disputes.
John McAfee made news in June 2021, when he hung himself in Spanish jail where he was anticipating US extradition on tax evasion charges. Contrary to the popular belief, his Belizian ex-girlfriend believes that he staged his own death to migrate to Texas and is apparently, is still living there.
According to Herrera, two weeks after the news of his demise, she got a call from John in Texas where he said that he settled a deal with the jail police to stage his death. Herrera also explained that only three people in the entire world knew about this and that he wanted her to join him in Texas.
The director of the documentary, Russell claims to have approached McAfee while he was on the run for tax evasion for an interview. Russell had to not only talk privately with him but also offer his credentials before the interview.
When questioned about Herrera’s allegations, Russell says that he is unable to make out whether it is true. John McAfee had been a victim of a heart attack in 2012, following which he broke up with Herrera. He eventually married Janice Dyson. While Janice McAfee did not reply to any questions posed by the media, she later tweeted on her social media handle confirming that her late husband was indeed dead. According to Janice, hiding in America for tax evasion charges in the United States would be a dumb move.

However, to add to the controversy, it was widely known that before the suicide allegations, McAfee has allegedly been tweeting that if he was discovered dead in jail, it wouldn’t be a suicide.
In June this year, Reuters confirmed that McAfee’s remains were still in a Spanish morgue.
