Blockchain security company PeckShield informed about the latest security incident against OpenSea’s Discord channel, following multiple complaints from users on Twitter. The popular NFT marketplace noted that it had begun an investigation.

  • After several tweets in regards to the incident, PeckShield confirmed that the Discord channel of the NFT marketplace had been exploited.
  • The scammers used a YouTube NFT art phishing link and began promoting a fraudulent NFT mint. As with previous scams, this one outlined a certain mint which was offered in collaboration with YouTube.
  • It redirected users to go to the YouTube link, where there was a promo going offering the first 100 participants the chance to claim tokens with a 100% discount.
  • As of writing these lines, there’s no official confirmation whether anyone has fallen for the scam. OpenSea later tweeted that the team was investigating the issue.
  • The giant NFT marketplace was exploited earlier this year as well, with reports claiming that the perpetrator swiped $1.8 million worth of digital art. The company later promised to reimburse all affected users.
