- Orbs expanded its network through the addition of the Harmony Network.
- The partnership brings another link in the web of Ethereum L2 chains.
- Harmony gathered a $300M fund to help promote building across its network.
Orbs is scaling fast. It seems almost weekly that this evolving ecosystem has forged a new partnership in the pursuit of cross-chain harmony. And true to that, they have now integrated with a protocol called Harmony, an open platform for assets, collectibles, identity and governance.
In fact, Harmony, which is a rather unique protocol, already offers cross-chain asset transfers across the leading Layer 1 chains, like Ethereum and Binance. The partnership with Orbs brings another link in the web of Ethereum Layer 2 chains, which supports its ecosystem.
In addition to this, Orbs is already live across the leading Layer 1 chains, including Ethereum BSC, Polygon, Solana, with Avalanche and an integration of Orbs into a host of other protocols, such as UniSwap, SushiSwap, and PancakeSwap.
The Harmony project is an open and fast blockchain that runs Ethereum applications, with lightning-fast transaction speeds of 2 seconds and it promises fees that are 1000 times lower than its competitors.
Harmony has compiled a $300 million fund that helps promote building across its network, which currently boasts over $520 million locked in value through its DeFi apps. Orbs ecosystem integrating with Harmony allows developers to experience deep sharing, which uses a Proof-of-Stake mode.
The origins of Orbs
Orbs is one of the earlier networks, having set out in 2017. Back then it specialised in enterprise level blockchain capabilities. Until today it is the main contender for enterprises that want to build powerful and highly capable apps and protocols.
However, it seems that the corporate world is a few steps behind the sophistication of the blockchain, and is not yet in a place where it is ready to use this powerful and functional technology to improve its overall capacity and efficiency.
Orbs identified this early, and while it is still ready and waiting for the enterprise sector to catch up, in the meantime it is a firm believer that DeFi is the proposition of the future.
It has swiftly moved into this arena and expanded fast, as one of the leading networks that is capable of handling amazing speeds, promising scalability and the option to deploy intelligently smart contracts, in a new architecture which it believes will be called Layer 3. The cooperation between Harmony and Orbs makes this a perfect symbiosis.
