Polkadot will hold its inaugural Hacker House event will take place later in June and provides networking opportunities for developers.

Polkadot (DOT) is slated to organize its first-ever crypto event dubbed Hacker House in New York City between June 23rd and 28th.

For the event, Polkadot is opening its doors to a wide range of participants, from experienced engineers to developers who are new to the Polkadot ecosystem. Engagement at the inaugural Polkadot crypto event will comprise technical workshops, in-person support, mentorship, and networking opportunities.

Polkadot took to its official Twitter account to herald Hacker House. The post read:

“Join the first-ever Polkadot Hacker House in New York City, from June 23rd. Take part in workshops open to developers, coders, engineers, and builders. Spaces are limited – apply now.”

Prospective participants of the six-day event must first register and will receive a spot on a first come first serve basis. While participation at the Hacker House will be free of charge to all interested persons, the network says it can only accommodate 200 people. Polkadot expects that the upcoming Hacker House will be the first of a long series for the crypto network.

Polkadot Hacker House participants also stand a chance to win cash prizes from a combined prize pool of over $600,000. Hacker House is an extension of the ongoing Polkadot Hackathon: North America Edition, which runs until July 11th. Winners will receive payment from the Polkadot Treasury and various ecosystem teams serving as custodians of the cash prize pool.

Polkadot Hacker House Agenda

The core reason behind the Hacker House event is to assist engineers and developers looking to evolve in the ecosystem. The event will provide technical insight into related topics, ranging from Substrate, ink! and XCM to parachain-specific development. Speaking on the Hacker House initiative, Urban Osvald, Growth Manager of Web3 Foundation, said:

“The Polkadot Hacker House offers a rare opportunity to connect with and learn from some of the brilliant minds of the Polkadot ecosystem. From workshops to in-person mentorship, the event offers a unique immersion opportunity.”

The event will help developers upgrade their skill in the Polkadot ecosystem. Participating developers will also be able to connect with other creators and organizations to grow their networks. This expansion should help bring future colleagues, employers or co-founders. The Hacker House event will take place in Industry City, Brooklyn.

Polkadot’s ongoing North American edition of the Hackathon belongs to a global series that began last year in APAC. Submissions for this event are classified under five main categories. They are Interfaces & Experiences, DAO & Governance, Web3 & Tooling, decentralized finance (DeFi), and non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
