Punk6529, a popular NFT collector, announced on April 15 that he plans to open a Metaverse project that is set to attract about 100 million users.
This project is completely self-funded, for now, and is called “OM”. It is going to be an open platform that is built and shared by the community. The overall plan for the project is to launch 10 self-governing cities with a maximum population of 10 million each.
Genesis City, which will be the museum district of the city, was released in alpha mode earlier today. Punk6529 told his Twitter followers that he thinks that the project might include “the most high-end NFTs ever displayed in one place.”
The promotion video revealed a big list of top NFT names. Some of these names include CryptoPunks, Tyler Hodds’ Fidenza collection, Bored Ape Yacht Club, and Art Blocks. There are already 2000 NFTs displayed that either belong to Punk6529 or to the members on the team.
The project will, however, allow new users to upload their own NFTs onto OM’s galleries.
The project also made sure to tell people that they are not looking to generate fees or crowdfunding at this stage. Their priority currently lies with producing a working product first after which they plan on scaling up via investments.
People were also invited to join and help build in the alpha, as long as their ideas “match” that of the museum district. Punk6529 stated that “I do not want your EHT, I want your input on how to design OM. I collect in public, I invest in public and we are going to build OM in public together.” The project plans to move into a public beta around June or July.
