Samsung said its 837x store on Decentraland will be open for a limited amount of time.
Samsung Electronics America has announced the launch of a new virtual store on Decentraland, marking the most amplified way to dive into the metaverse. According to the tech giant, the virtual store dubbed Samsung 837x is modeled after the firm’s 837 flagship location in New York City, and according to the company, the “new metaverse experience brings its spirit as an experiential playground for people to discover the amazing possibilities when technology and culture collide.”
The Samsung debut on the metaverse is dubbed the largest land takeover to date in Decentraland. Per the design of the virtual store, users can experience an immersive “digital adventure through the Connectivity Theater and Sustainability Forest to complete quests along the way for 837X Non-Fungible Token (NFT) badges and by a celebration at the Customization Stage.”
The Connectivity Theater is billed to show visitors news and events from Samsung’s participation at the CES event. Here, guests will be awed as they are exposed to the powerful innovations and connectivity advances, and customizable solutions being championed by Samsung Technology.
The company also plans to take its virtual store visitors through the sustainability forest, an experience that will feature the company’s recent partnership with Veritree to plant 2 million trees in Madagascar by the end of this first quarter. The customizable stage is even more immersive and is aimed at celebrating the debut of Samsung 837x featuring a metaverse mixed reality live dance party hosted by brilliant producer, DJ, and Vibraphonist, Gamma Vibes, from the physical Samsung 837 location.
“At Samsung 837X, we’re excited to tell our connectivity, sustainability, and customization stories in a novel way, in a one-of-a-kind space,” said Michelle Crossan-Matos, Senior Vice President of Corporate Marketing and Communications at Samsung Electronics America. “The metaverse empowers us to transcend physical and spatial limits to create unique virtual experiences that could not happen otherwise. Innovation is in our DNA, and we can’t wait for you all to experience this burgeoning virtual world.”
Samsung Electronics Debut on the Metaverse: the Decentraland Advantage
The clamor to become a part of the metaverse is taking new momentum by the day as the offshoot of blockchain technology is proving to be an avenue for major brands to create new experiences for their customers and fans worldwide.
Amongst the metaverse-focused blockchain protocols is Decentraland, a virtual reality platform powered by the Ethereum blockchain that allows users to create, experience, and monetize content and applications. Over the past few years, Decentraland has grown to become a go-to hub for most brands who are looking for avenues to establish a foothold in the metaverse.
The embrace of Decentraland is a positive ticker in fueling the growth of the platform’s native token ‘MANA’. Amidst the massive price corrections the entire industry is experiencing, MANA is up 3.94% to $3.35 per token. This is not in any way near its all-time high (ATH), but the growing relevance of the protocol is bound to stir a more ambitious growth trend for the token in the near future.
