Besides the two Samsung Galaxy Z phones, the company also launched the Galaxy smartwatches with more enhanced capabilities than their predecessors.
South Korean multinational electronics corporation Samsung Electronics Co Ltd (KRX: 005930) has released its most advanced foldable phones to date, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Fold 4 respectively. The phones come with the latest technology and new features that beat their predecessors and were launched in a bid to gain more market dominance pending when American competitor, Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL) will release its own set of devices.
Features of the Samsung Galaxy Z Phones
The Galaxy Z Flip 4 is the smaller version and it starts out at $999.99. This phone is designed as a pocketable square which when opened reveals a 6.7-inch screen. The larger Galaxy Z Fold 4 opens up to reveal a 7.6-inch screen and it sells for $1,799.99. Both phones are designed to be tough and have stronger aluminum frames and Corning glass on the outside, two features that make the phone more resistant to scratches and drops.
The key hope for the foldable Galaxy Z phones is to make them more mainstream than its very popular Galaxy Note phones. As revealed in its earnings report published on July 28, the firm is anticipating the folding phones to surpass the Notes in the near future. Samsung has kept up with its end of the bargain as a high-end phone maker, despite the continued strain the tech industry has been facing with respect to materials shortages.
Both the Flip 4 and the Fold 4 have very strong battery lives that charge super fast. The tablet-like Fold 4 is, however, designed to be 65% brighter, thanks to a sensor. Amongst a list of capabilities, both phones enable users to take a selfie in portrait mode, and on the Flip 4, users can shoot hands-free video by partially folding the flip to activate FlexCam.
The company said it partnered with Meta Platforms Inc (NASDAQ: META) so that this feature can be used across its apps including Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
Samsung Galaxy Watches and Buds 2 Pro
Besides the two Samsung Galaxy Z phones, the company also launched the Galaxy smartwatches with more enhanced capabilities than their predecessors. According to the company, the Galaxy Watch 5, the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, and the Galaxy Watch 5 Golf Edition, the trio of which give more accurate health readings based on their advanced designs.
The Watch 5 sells for $279.99, the Watch 5 Pro goes for $449.99 while the Watch 5 Golf Edition can be acquired for $329.99.
Samsung also introduced the advanced Galaxy Buds 2 Pro which has a very sensitive noise cancelation feature called the Intelligent Active Noise Cancellation. The earbuds can blur sounds but can also make users know when someone is saying something to them, giving room to lower to volume to get a clearer and more audible sound. The earbuds will be officially launched on August 26 and can be snapped up for $229.99.
