SHIB Army Calls Foul Over Dogecoin Comparison Insists on Unity
  • The SHIB community is not happy that SHIB is being compared to DOGE.
  • CoinGecko released a video comparing the two dog-inspired coins.
  • ShibaInuCoin said the crypto space should be about the community, trust, and environment.

The Shiba Inu (SHIB) community is not pleased with CoinGecko after the cryptocurrency market analysis portal pitted SHIB and Dogecoin (DOGE) against each other for one of its contents which compares two digital assets to see which is better.

Through ShibaInuCoin, one of the SHIB Twitter accounts with huge followings, the community colloquially known as the SHIB Army said that the cryptocurrency ecosystem is not all about which is better but is more about the community, trust, and environmental conservation.

The content in question is an eight-minute video published by CoinGecko and is entitled, “Shiba Inu Vs Dogecoin: Which Is A Better Meme Coin?” A teaser was then shared on Twitter, which ShibaInuCoin later retweeted.

The video talks about the origins of SHIB and DOGE and how they work, including SHIB’s tokenomics, growing communities, and their plans. Although the video did not go in-depth with each segment, it provided ample information for viewers to understand both cryptos.

“Both started as a joke [but] have garnered a lot of interest and have formed robust communities,” described CoinGecko. True enough, both tokens have amassed large followings. SHIB and DOGE have a total of over six million followers on Twitter and around 2.7 million subscribers on their subreddits, with DOGE having more. This also goes to show that these investors trust the projects.

Although ShibaInuCoin pointed out that a project should also focus on having concerns for the environment, the whole industry has yet to prove to be a green technology. SHIB is an ERC-20 token based on Ethereum, which, at the moment, uses a proof-of-work (PoW) mining consensus mechanism. On the other hand, DOGE also consumes as much energy as El Salvador, according to energy consumption tracker Digiconomist.

Regardless of what CoinGecko’s reasons are for producing the video, the platform still allowed the community to give the final verdict. It is up to the investors to research and invest in projects they believe in.
