Tweets of Kraken, Coinbase Chiefs Sent to Canadian Police

Kraken CEO and Coinbase CEO criticized Trudeaus emergency powers

Market News

  • Tweets of Kraken and Coinbase chiefs criticizing Trudeau’s attempt to freeze BTC wallets have been sent to Canadian Police.
  • The crypto community is eagerly waiting to see the outcome.
  • Trudeau has expressed his thoughts regarding the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

After Jesse Powell and Brian Armstrong, CEO of Kraken and Coinbase, respectively, criticized Canada’s action against Bitcoin funding for truckers, reports say that the formers’ tweets have been submitted to The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).

Specifically, Powell and Armstrong expressed their displeasure with the decision of the country to freeze wallets holding cryptocurrency to support the protests. At the time of writing, the mentioned chiefs have not yet responded to news that their criticism has been sent to the RCMP. Meanwhile, Canadian financial regulators have taken a stringent step in freezing 219 financial products as well as 253 BTC wallets in addition to what they have frozen earlier.

The RCMP has admitted that they are keen to take more proactive actions to freeze any crypto-related accounts of payment processors, as well.

In other news, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau expressed his thoughts and concerns regarding Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine.

He blasted and condemned Russia’s aggressiveness on Ukraine and said, “Russia is violating Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.” Trudeau sees the Ukraine invasion as a provocative threat that Russia has planned to intimidate Ukraine.

Despite Trudeau’s comment on the dispute between Russia and Ukraine, the crypto space sees Trudeau as a hypocrite because he has also taken a similar action – albeit in a smaller scale – by freezing BTC wallets in Canada.

Furthermore, a report has it that Russia is already bombing some parts of Ukraine. Remembering how Russia proved to be friendly with cryptocurrencies earlier this year, many crypto enthusiasts expressed disappointment in President Vladimir Putin for attacking Ukraine.
