With sympathy from foreigners and major global companies, the nation has been receiving donations in cryptocurrencies to help it fund its fight back against Russia.
With concerns to secure the financial sustainability of the military personnel and civilians of Ukraine while they struggle to survive the attack launched against them by the Russians, the country has announced the launch of NFT sales as a way to raise funds. In a bid to further raise funds amid the ongoing war, Ukraine has been triggered to launch the sales of an NFT collection which is based on a timeline of the Russian invasion. According to the announcement, the NFT collection which is dubbed “Meta History: Museum of War” is designed with tradable items which entail every remarkable event of the war, including the ministry’s support, chronicles recent events in the war, illustrations from both Ukrainian and international digital artists.
Ukraine Creates NFT “Museum of War”
It’s been weeks since Russia kicked off its life-threatening invasion against Ukraine. The attack has put the lives of the Ukrainian adults and children at stake which has caused the country to seek funds and support for its residents especially the militaries in their fight back against Russia.
It is worthy to note that cryptocurrencies have served as a very effective tool to help the country in their push for crowdfunding amid the unfavorable moments faced with them. With sympathy from foreigners and major global companies, the nation has been receiving donations in cryptocurrencies to help it fund its fight back against Russia.
However, it appears that the idea behind the NFT launch was inspired by the country’s belief that they can survive Russia’s invasion via the use of revolutionary blockchain technology. The minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, Mykhailo Fedorov unveiled plans for the NFT launch saying:
“While Russia uses tanks to destroy Ukraine, we rely on revolutionary blockchain tech. @Meta_History_UA NFT-Museum is launched. The place to keep the memory of war. And the place to celebrate Ukrainian identity and freedom.”
Currently, the country has already listed 54 NFTs which cover the first three days of the war in late February. The sales will commence next week starting with the first NFT. Meanwhile, the proceeds from the NFT sales will be used to support Ukraine’s army and civilians according to the announcement.
