- Zilliqa said that WEB3WAR will focus majorly on gameplay and intuitive design and employ a more sustainable skill-to-earn gaming model.
- Zilliqa’s WEB3WAR will feature in-game tokens as well as other digital items available for purchase.
On Tuesday, August 23, Layer-1 blockchain protocol Zilliqa announced the launch of its first-person shooter game WEB3WAR. The announcement comes just before Zilliqa’s participation at Gamescom, Europe’s leading trade fair for digital games culture.
The gaming industry is already eyeing a prolific expansion in the coming decade and blockchain technology could have a greater impact on the gaming industry. Last year in 2021, the video game industry was estimated to be worth $178.7 billion. The industry registered a 15 percent healthy growth in comparison to the previous year of 2020. As per estimates, the gaming industry’s market size will reach $268 billion by 2025.
Zilliqa’s blockchain-based game WEB3WAR is likely to get a good response since first-person shooter (FPS) games are getting very popular within esports. Zilliqa said that WEB3WAR will focus majorly on gameplay and intuitive design.
The Layer-1 blockchain protocol believes that this will make WEB3WAR appealing to the entire gaming community. Upon launch, the game will be free to play with seasonal components while needing tokens to access more features. Commenting on the development, Matt Dyer, Head of Growth at Zilliqa said:
We’re on a mission to help gamers adopt crypto and welcome them into the Zilliqa community. Web3War is a game designed to meet the preferences of modern gamers, and also offer them a fresh experience — by introducing the opportunity to earn rewards as they have fun. Our focus is on creating a game that not only has utility but also has the player’s enjoyment at its heart.
The WEB3WAR gaming model
In addition to the AAA-level approach to gaming development, Zilliqa shall be adopting the skill-to-earn gaming model instead of the very popular play-to-earn model. This will serve as the foundation of a more sustainable business model.
Players of WEB3WAR will win rewards in the form of tokens and customized items secured by the Zilliqa blockchain. The rewards will depend on the skill of users. The better they play, the more valuable the reward.
Zilliqa’s WEB3WAR will feature in-game tokens as well as other digital items available for purchase. This includes armors, helmets, and weapons for the player’s characters. Zilliqa believes that the skills-based rewards system will help WEB3WAR emerge as a leader in the blockchain gaming industry.
Probably, Zilliqa might unveil more details during the Gamescom event ahead of this week. Matt Dyer said: “Gamescom is the perfect event for us to announce WEB3WAR, since we see it first and foremost as a game that just happens to have blockchain elements built into it. WEB3WAR is just the tip of the iceberg for what Zilliqa has in store for the gaming community.”
Zilliqa’s WEB3WAR will be available on all platforms such as Windows, Mac, Linux, iOs, and Android.
