Axie Infinity Suffers Another Attack, This Time on the MEE6 Bot

  • There has been a compromise of the MEE6 bot which was installed on the main Axie server.
  • RTFKT, PROOF/Moonbirds, PXN, Memeland, Cool Cats and many others have also reported their admin accounts being compromised.
  • All of this has impacted the AXS token as it dropped from a high of $169 to $20.

Axie Infinity announced in a Tweet on May 18 that “there has been a compromise of the MEE6 bot which was installed on the main Axie [Discord] server

The hackers used the MEE6 bot to add permissions to the fake Ziho account, making fake announcements about Mint. MEE6 is a Discord bot that allows administrators to automatically assign and delete roles and send messages.

This is not the first time projects on the MEE6 bots have faced this problem. RTFKT, PROOF/Moonbirds, PXN, Memeland, Cool Cats and many others have already reported their admin accounts being compromised.

Axie Infinity stated that all the announcements showing a special mint had been removed, however it is still possible for some users to see messages.

The Axie team also stated that “we have removed the MEE6 bot from the servers and will never mint amazing.”

The teams also assured people that they will keep everyone updated through Twitter, Discord, and Facebook.

According to an official report, MEE6 was not attacked, but administrators in the server were compromised which allows attackers to use MEE6 features to post messages.

Axie infinity has been having a pretty rough time with regards to their security after the well known Ronin Network attack in which $625 million was stolen. Many believe the Axie Infinity project is failing as delays and hacks have gripped developers.

Many players are getting worked up about the delays in launching the game Land, and many players have left the game as the project continues to be hacked.

All of this has impacted the AXS token as it dropped from a high of $169 to $20 in just 6 months.
